Exhibition introduction

The Greek International Maritime Exhibition is one of the oldest, largest, most visited, and best exhibition results. Thanks to the unique position of Greek shipowners in the shipping industry, the exhibition has attracted a large number of shipowners, shipyards and related industries to participate. The exhibition has been strongly supported by the Greek government and the Greek Shipowners Association, attracting people from the shipbuilding, shipping and port industries from all over the world.

Since 2018, Greece has controlled a fleet of more than 4,000 vessels, the largest in the world, with assets worth $100 billion. In the first eight months of 2018, Greece invested more than $3 billion and bought 200 ships. During the same period, about $3.8 billion was spent on new construction projects. It is estimated that IMO 2020 sulfur emission limits and ballast water treatment regulations will cost the shipping industry $50 billion. Therefore, innovation is the most important part of the development of the Greek maritime market. The Greek owners have partnered with leading Marine equipment manufacturers to address these challenges and determine how best to deploy their multi-billion dollar budgets. This collaborative approach is the hallmark of Posidonia, where exhibitors work closely with ship owners and managers to explore solutions and discover new opportunities.

Greece is strategically located between the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. In 2008, COsco signed a concession with Greece to lease some of the terminals at the port of Piraeus for a total of more than 4 billion euros. Piraeus port is an important commercial port on the Mediterranean coast, and goods can be directly transported to other European countries through this port, eliminating the pain of time-consuming detour.  China will also assist Greece in the construction of Piraeus port, which is slated to become a major container transshipment port in the Mediterranean region. China COsco Shipping already operates a large terminal at the port and is one of its biggest customers. Greece is the gateway connecting Central and Eastern European countries, will narrow the relationship between Greece and China's big market, can radiate neighboring countries, but also an important geopolitical stronghold of China, China's maritime routes to the Mediterranean will be more frequent.

Since 2008, there have been three notable changes in the cooperation between Greece and China in the field of shipping: First, Greek shipowners continue to expand their shipbuilding scale in China in the face of the sluggish international trade and shipping market. Second, Greek ship owners not only order traditional bulk carriers and oil tankers in China, but also purchase high-tech, high value-added large container ships and liquefied natural gas vessels. Third, the dependence of Greek shipowners on foreign trade with China is increasing. At present, 60% of China's annual oil imports and nearly 50% of the imports of general commodities are completed by Greek shipowners by sea.

With the large number of Greek shipowners, you will have the opportunity to understand the market situation directly with the shipowners, and also participate in more cooperation through the shipowners. Expand your business opportunities on this excellent platform. Greek shipowners are always ready to listen to your needs and are keen to work with suppliers and service providers to achieve fleet expansion. Greeks are the largest group of customers in the finance, insurance and sales buying markets. Large-scale greenfield projects have led to increased demand for shipbuilding, Marine equipment and information technology and services to support the service systems of their global operations. Face to face with professional fleet maintenance and ship technology operators in the industry, only Posidonia can match the scale required. The smooth signing of contracts and the establishment of valuable contacts during the exhibition has always been the reason for the popularity of Posidonia. Following the history of the Greek maritime market for half a century, Posidonia 2018 once again broke records as the international maritime industry event.
