Guangzhou Global BoYi Exhibition Co., Ltd. will lead Chinese aquaculture enterprises to participate in an exhibition in Vietnam and investigate the local aquatic market, jointly exploring the vast overseas market. Details of the exhibition are as follows:
Exhibition Name:
The 27th Vietnam International Fisheries & Seafood Processing Expo
Time: August 19-21, 2026
Venue: Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
I. Organizing Structure
Organizer: Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP)
China Area Organizer: Guangzhou Global BoYi Exhibition Co., Ltd.
II. Market Overview
Vietnam has a coastline of approximately 3,260 kilometers, with numerous rivers and lakes, making its fishery resources exceptionally rich. Vietnam's mariculture area includes 580,000 hectares of bays, 300,000 hectares of tidal-influenced waters, and over 30,000 hectares of saltwater lakes. Its freshwater aquaculture area comprises 2,860 rivers, nearly 400,000 hectares of lakes and natural or artificial reservoirs, 56,000 hectares of ponds, and 85,000 hectares of lagoons.
Vietnam's aquaculture market is one of the largest in the world. With a population of 90 million, the average per capita consumption of aquatic products is about 35.4 kg. Furthermore, consumption is projected to continue growing at an annual rate of 5.37% from 2015 to 2020, increasing from 710,000 tons in 2015 to 940,000 tons in 2020. The country's coastal waters are home to 1,200 species of fish and 70 species of shrimp, many of which hold significant developmental value. Vietnam is not only one of the world's top three shrimp-producing industries but also the largest producer of giant river prawns globally.
With advancements in freshwater aquaculture technology, Vietnam's aquatic seed production model has shifted from traditional intensive farming to a focus on energy conservation and productivity enhancement. This involves integrating agricultural irrigation systems with the seed production process and further expanding commercial potential through optimization of this model. Additionally, Vietnam promotes the use of fish cages and net pens for fry cultivation to increase production output per unit of water used.
According to Vietnam's long-term fisheries development plan towards 2030, the country will establish six major fishery centers to boost marine fishing, especially offshore fishing.
In the future, China will be a major market for Vietnamese aquatic products. Under the China-ASEAN "Early Harvest" program, Vietnam has reduced tariffs on almost all aquatic products exported to China. In 2012, Vietnam eliminated tariffs on 484 categories of agricultural and aquatic products exported to China to fulfill its commitments under the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement. This will significantly promote the export of Vietnamese aquatic products to China, especially during China's annual fishing moratorium periods, giving Vietnamese products favorable timing and conditions.
