Exhibition Introduction
The Japan International Seafood & Technology Expo is Japan's oldest, largest, and most prestigious professional seafood exhibition. It is also a highly influential specialized trade show in Asia, organized by the Japan Fisheries Association and managed by Japan Exhibition Science Inc. Since its inception in 1998, the expo has become one of the most influential professional events in Japan's seafood industry, comprehensively covering production, processing, distribution, and other sectors. It serves as a crucial window for Chinese aquatic enterprises to understand and explore the Japanese market.
In 2024, the exhibition attracted nearly 800 exhibiting companies from 20 countries and regions, including China, Norway, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scotland, South Korea, Indonesia, India, and Thailand. It welcomed over 23,000 professional visitors and occupied an exhibition area of 17,000 square meters.
Market Overview
Japan is a major export destination for Chinese aquatic products. In 2023, China's seafood exports to Japan reached 502,800 tons, valued at $3.352 billion; imports from Japan amounted to 87,000 tons, valued at $416 million. In terms of import categories from Japan, cephalopods, shrimp, shellfish, eel, and wakame seaweed constitute a significant proportion and are favored by local wholesale markets, restaurants, and supermarkets.
